Questions based on this morning’s sermon on 1 Corinthians 6:12-20
Questions Based on the Sermon:
1. Understanding Christian Liberty:
o Do you view your freedom in Christ as an opportunity to indulge in desires, or as a call to glorify God?
o Are there areas in your life where you are exercising liberty, but it may not be spiritually beneficial?
o Is there anything in your life that is lawful but is beginning to dominate or control you?
2. Purpose of the Body:
o How do you view the purpose of your body? Do you see it as a tool for self-gratification or as a vessel for glorifying God?
o What steps are you taking to ensure that your body is being used for God’s purposes and not for fulfilling sinful desires?
o How does the truth of the resurrection and the future glorification of your body impact how you treat your body today?
3. Union with Christ:
o Do you recognize that your body is a member of Christ? How does this truth change the way you think about sin, especially sexual sin?
o When faced with temptation, do you remember that engaging in sexual immorality defiles your union with Christ?
o How can you more fully reflect the holiness of Christ in your body and relationships?
4. Fleeing Sexual Immorality:
o Are there areas in your life where sexual temptation lingers? What practical steps can you take to flee from that temptation?
o Do you have healthy boundaries in your relationships, media consumption, and other areas of life to guard against sexual immorality?
o Have you sought accountability from others to help you stay pure? If not, what is holding you back?
5. Body as a Temple of the Holy Spirit:
o Do you believe that the Holy Spirit truly dwells within you? How does this truth affect how you live day to day?
o Are you using your body in ways that honor the Holy Spirit’s presence, or are you treating it as your own possession?
o How often do you reflect on the fact that your body is sacred because of the indwelling Spirit? How does this influence your actions and decisions?
6. The Price of Redemption:
o When you consider that Christ bought you with His own blood, how does that change your view of your life and your body?
o Are you living in a way that reflects the cost of your redemption, or are there areas where you are not honoring Christ’s sacrifice?
o How can you let the truth of Christ’s sacrifice motivate you to pursue purity and holiness more fervently?
7. Empowerment of the Holy Spirit:
o Are you relying on the Holy Spirit for strength to flee temptation, or are you trying to fight sin on your own?
o How can you cultivate a greater reliance on the Spirit’s power in your daily walk, especially in resisting sin?
o In what ways can you better align your life with the Spirit’s leading to ensure you are glorifying God with your body?
8. Living Out Your Identity in Christ:
o How does your identity in Christ—being bought with a price and indwelt by the Holy Spirit—shape how you approach issues of purity?
o Are there areas in your life where you are struggling to fully embrace your new identity in Christ?
o What steps can you take to more intentionally live out the freedom Christ has purchased for you, particularly in terms of sexual purity and holiness?
