Tuesday: The Role of Inclusivity in Leadership

Scripture Reading: Romans 15:5-7

“May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.”

Reflection: Inclusivity in leadership is not just about opening doors for participation; it’s about actively seeking to make everyone feel valued and part of the community. Paul’s words to the Romans remind us that Christ has welcomed each of us, regardless of our backgrounds, abilities, or past failures. This act of welcome is fundamental to the health and unity of the church and should be a model for how we interact with others.

Tonight, consider your role within your various communities:

• Are there people who might feel marginalized or overlooked in your church, workplace, or social groups?

• How actively do you work to include others in discussions, activities, and decision-making?

Reflect on the barriers to inclusivity that might exist in your environments. These could be physical, such as accessibility issues for those with disabilities, or social, such as cliques that form within the church or community groups.

Application:

• Identify specific actions you can take to improve inclusivity in your contexts. For instance, could you advocate for better accessibility in your church or workplace? Could you make an effort to greet new or isolated individuals?

• Consider hosting a small group discussion or a social event where inclusivity is the explicit focus, ensuring that everyone has a voice and feels welcomed.

Prayer Focus: Lord, help me to see others as You see them—valuable and worthy of love and inclusion. Inspire me to extend the same welcome I have received from Christ. Teach me to recognize and remove barriers that prevent others from feeling fully part of our community. I pray for the wisdom and creativity to foster an environment where everyone can contribute and feel valued. Amen.

Use this reflection to explore practical ways of enhancing inclusivity and understanding in your daily interactions, mirroring the inclusive heart of Jesus and strengthening the fabric of your community.
