Devotional 1: “Called by God”
Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 1:1

Reflection: In the quiet of the morning, as you sit with your Bible open, meditate on the words of 1 Corinthians 1:1: “Paul, called by the will of God to be an apostle of Christ Jesus.” Consider the weight of these words—Paul wasn’t just a man with a mission; he was a vessel chosen and commissioned by God Himself.

Paul’s calling was unique, but it serves as a powerful reminder that every believer has a divine calling. This calling may not be to apostleship, but it is equally significant in God’s eyes. Reflect on how God has called you. Maybe it’s in your role as a parent, a teacher, a healthcare worker, or in a ministry within the church. Each role, infused with God’s purpose, becomes a platform for His glory.

Think about the specific ways God has led you and guided you in your journey of faith. Perhaps there have been moments of doubt or uncertainty about your calling. Remember that Paul himself faced numerous trials and opposition, yet he remained steadfast because he knew his calling was from God. Similarly, your calling comes with God’s assurance and support.

Consider how you can live out your calling today. How can you bring the love and truth of Christ into your interactions and responsibilities? Maybe it’s through a kind word to a coworker, an act of service to a neighbor, or spending quality time with your family. Embrace your calling today, knowing that you are not alone, but chosen and empowered by the sovereign will of God.

Application:
• Identify Your Calling: Take a few moments to write down the specific ways you believe God has called you. These could be roles, responsibilities, or passions that align with His purpose.
• Seek God’s Guidance: Ask God to reveal how you can live out your calling more fully today. Be attentive to His leading in your interactions and decisions.
• Encourage Others: Recognize the callings in the lives of those around you. Encourage and support them as they seek to fulfill their God-given purposes.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for calling me according to Your will. As I embark on this new day, help me to walk in the confidence of Your calling, trusting that You have equipped me for every good work. Open my eyes to the opportunities to serve You and others, and fill me with Your Spirit to carry out Your will with joy and perseverance. May Your purposes be fulfilled in my life, and may Your name be glorified in all I do. Amen.

Scripture for Further Meditation:

• Ephesians 2:10: “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”
• 2 Timothy 1:9: “He has saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works but because of his own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus before the ages began.”

As you reflect on these verses, remember that your calling is part of God’s eternal plan, crafted with purpose and grace. Embrace it fully, and step into the day with a heart committed to living out God’s will.
