Day 2: Misplaced Loyalties and Christ as the Foundation of Unity
Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 3:4-5 (ESV)
4 For when one says, “I follow Paul,” and another, “I follow Apollos,” are you not being merely human?
5 What then is Apollos? What is Paul? Servants through whom you believed, as the Lord assigned to each.
Reflection:
In these verses, Paul addresses a significant issue in the Corinthian church: divisions caused by misplaced loyalties to human leaders. Some members were aligning themselves with Paul, while others were following Apollos. Paul rebukes this behavior, emphasizing that such divisions are worldly and fleshly. Both Paul and Apollos are merely servants of God, each fulfilling the role assigned by the Lord.
This passage challenges us to examine our own attitudes toward church leaders and fellow believers. Our ultimate allegiance should be to Christ, not to any human leader. When we focus on Christ, we foster unity within the body of Christ, recognizing that we are all working together for His glory.

- Make a conscious effort to focus on Christ as the foundation of your faith. Spend time in prayer, asking God to help you keep your eyes on Jesus and to avoid placing undue emphasis on human leaders.

- Support Your Leaders:
- Show appreciation and support for your church leaders without creating divisions. Pray for them, encourage them, and recognize that they are servants of God, each playing a crucial role in His plan.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for the leaders and servants You have placed in our church. Help us to honor and support them without creating divisions. May our primary allegiance be to Christ, our foundation and cornerstone. Teach us to value unity and to work together as one body, each fulfilling the role You have assigned. In Jesus’ name, we pray.
